You’ve probably heard of the term, “hormone imbalance” before – but what exactly does it mean? What exactly causes a hormone imbalance – and what can you do to fix it?
Hormone imbalance refers to an imbalance in your body’s ability to naturally regulate its own hormones. For example, a hormone imbalance could refer to a person who has low testosterone levels, or a women who has low estrogen levels. Hormone imbalances can occur as a result of the aging process (one popular example includes when women go through menopause), or for genetic reasons.
Some of the most common hormones that could become imbalanced include:
- Estrogen
- Testosterone
- Melatonin
- Thyroid
- Cortisol
- Progesterone
