Rosacea and Redness

Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that generally affects the face; it is characterized by inflammation of the cheeks, nose, and forehead. It is also associated with facial dilated blood vessels and redness. That’s one reason why early symptoms are often taken for sunburn, and people delay treatment, thinking that it will eventually go away.

Rosacea affects more than 12 million people in the United States alone, and is a common condition among adults, (mostly women), in the 30-40 age group. Vascular rosacea is a related condition that is characterized by flushing and redness. The medical professionals have not yet come up with a definitive cause of rosacea. However, some researchers believe that it is linked to the dilation of the blood vessels, hence the flushing and redness.

There are a number of factors that can aggravate rosacea; these include sunlight, strenuous exercise, extreme temperatures, spicy food, emotional stress, and more. While there is no known cure for the condition, there are several treatment methods available that can control it. These include laser treatment, topical medications, and antibiotics. There are also a range of skin care products that have been specially developed for rosacea.

At the Fountain of Youth Med Spa, Dr. Le has had many years of experience treating rosacea with photorejuvenation. This treatment is able to control symptoms such as redness and puffiness.

We also provide a line of skin care products that are specially formulated to improve the condition.
